County History (In progress)

This section is designed to lead visitors through a brief history and to use this page as a jump point into the more detailed sections.

It is broken into 10 sections so that visitors can find a particular section of interest.

  1. Early Northampton (Pre 43 AD)
  2. The Romans (43 AD - 410 AD)
  3. The Saxons (410 AD - 1066)
  4. The Danes (793 - 1042)
  5. The Normans (1066 - 1154)
  6. The Middle Ages (1154 - 1485)
  7. The Tudors (1485 - 1603)
  8. The Stuarts (1603 - 1714)
  9. The Hanovers (1714 - 1901)
  10. The Windsors (1901 - Today)

Prominent places in Northamptonshire such as :

  • Queen Eleanor's Cross
  • Northampton Tower (aka Express Lifts Tower, Northampton Lighthouse)
  • Northampton Train Station
  • Naseby Battleground.
  • Sixfields Stadium

Update ALL of the Villages with a basic set of details (detail template to be confirmed). Also launch our first targeted campaign to publicise the existing content and to recruit researchers for the Village pages

Marketing to encourage the use of the forums for information exchange and debate.

Possibly the publication of news or blogs to begin an account of modern Northampton. This would include local news and interesting stories as well as debate and soliciting feedback from visitors.

I wonder if you can help me. I want to know if the Oakwood Nursing Home in The Drive, Northampton was around 1920s a Nursing Home where you could go to give birth. I am trying to fill in gaps in my family history. Thank you.

Yes, thats right. My Dad was born there and my Step mum now works in the care home.
