A good addition to this site would be some history on Kingsthorpe, I have an interest here as this is where I spent most of my youth !
I was recently discussing this with a friend of mine, (we both went to Bective School) now sadly demolished and the land built on.
This is another area where we have lost some lovely old buildings, most of the old Schools have been knocked down and new ones built. Perhaps someone reading this has some old photo's of these Schools that they can post. I really wish I had taken some photo's before the demolition took place. I feel like I've lost a bit of my past!!
This friend recently sent me an old photo of Kingsthorpe front (the shops), looking down towards the Prince of Wales Pub on the corner of Boughton Green Road, looks like it was taken in the late 1960's early 1970's.
Could I post this here ?? I would be very glad to contribute to this site.

Hi,
by all means please do send this to me and I will make sure it is posted. Due to security restrictions I can't allow posting images direct to the site but if you email it to me at Editor@northamptonshire-history.org.uk then I will resize it and post it for you.
This poses an interesting question to me (and now to you) as there is a section on Villages on this site but what is Kingsthorpe?
Would you class this as a village or part of Northampton now?
My personal view is that although officially known as 'Kingsthorpe Village' this now forms part of the town so I will create a new set of pages called 'Towns' (which I intended to do) and create a 'Northampton' page with a 'Kingsthorpe' sub page... (confused yet?)
In any case, there will be a new page created for Kingsthorpe for you which you will be able to edit. I'll drop you an email with details once it is setup.
Many thanks for your interest, we would love to have your memories added to the site :)
If anyone does have any interesting stories or especially photos of Kingsthorpe then please do contact us.
