| Delapre Abbey may be saved from it's slow decay by new plans to consider it and the surrounding parklands a conservation area. This could see money being injected into this important historical building. For the full story so far see the following links |

Two years later and the council have still done nothing as usual. God forbid if another one of Northamptons fine buildings would be lost forever. Lets treasure Northamptons history not destroy it. We have a great past lets celebrate it
Hello,
This is good news but unfortunately we have heard this before. Here is some BBC coverage from 2005 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/northamptonshire/4720175.stm) which is proof that this can take a long time to come about, even if it comes about at all.
Still, let's hope this time something can be done.

Hi Ian,
yes you are right this isn't the first attempt to save it. Let's hope that this time this will be successful.
I noticed there is a lot more going on at the abbey these days. Have a look at their website to see (http://www.delapreabbey.org/page/page/3836932.htm). Maybe this extra attention will help their case and we will soon see this building restored and fully open to the public.
