About Us

This is a personal project creted by one individual. I receive no funding of any kind and the site is not supported, funded or approved by any organisations or by the local council. I would like to avoid advertising on this site but the costs of running it may preclude having that luxury in the longer term.

I am pleased to say that I have been joined by ReSearcher341 who has created a very comprehensive account of the history of Weedon Bec. I invite anyone who is interested in any aspect of the county's history to own a page on the website to document their findings. It's quite easy and I am always around to help you.

How did this site come to life?

For many years I have been interested in the history of Northamptonshire. There are some great books on the subject but many are about just the town or are limited by the size of the book. I also enjoy dabbling with technology and recently found myself creating websites for members of my family which I found quite rewarding. I tinkered around with websites for a few years and then decided that I would combine my interests to create this site. With a site like this there are no limits to the topics we can cover or the sheer size of historical data we can collect and present.

This site was registered on the 11th of November 2006 and at the same time my research began. As such I haven't began to research many aspects of the county but the content has been growing over the time it has been running.

I need you!

Ultimately this site depends on the visitors to keep it popular. Keep visiting and reading the information and also wherever possible contribute in some way. Even if you just post something in the forum to say thanks or complain about something it means people are visiting and this is something that at least stirs some debate.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. I do hope that it will become a valuable resource for future generations as we document as much as we can in a public forum. It would be a shame to lose visibility of our history and we should be proud of what we have.

Northamptonshire is incredibly overlooked by the rest of the nation and it has so much to offer. It is the birthplace of the forefathers of the United States of America(1), and was once the centre of British parliament(2) - two pieces of information that I had to work quite hard to find out.

Thanks again.
