The villages project is a set of pages dedicated to the villages in Northamptonshire. The aim of these pages is to capture and share information about as many villages as possible in order to uncover the secrets hidden within them.
Information that we would like to have includes:
One reason for doing this is to share this with tourists and locals alike, another reason is to collect peoples memories about these places in an attempt to preserve them for the future.
As there are so many villages to consider in the county, it would be impossible to research and publish this information in any short period of time. Whilst the site has it's own (very few) researchers we are attempting to write a little something about each Village. What we would prefer, is that someone actually from the village itself, or who knows the village very well could create and maintain the page.
This is where you could come in. We can give you access to manage the page, receive comments from others and discuss the village in public forums.
This way we can recruit many village editors and the content would be more complete and up-to-date than if we did this ourselves (at least in the short term).
So why not go to our forums page and leave us a message. You are not under any obligation to work on the site other than if and when you want to. If you don't want to edit the pages yourselves (which is easier than using a simple word processor) then you can email your submissions to us or post them on the forum.
We are greatfull for any time you can commit to this project and we hope it will be a rewarding experience for you. You can credit your own work and have your name on the page if you like, or work anonymously, the choice is yours.
We have found that researching Northamptonshire is a very interesting and rewarding past time and we think you will too. So why not put your spare time into educatiing yourselves and others.
